Thursfields raise £2,000 for hospice at charity golf day

Thursfields Solicitors has raised £2,000 for a local hospice by holding a charity golf day in Worcestershire.

Associate solicitors Hannah Nicholls and Laura Williams arranged the mixed team contest at Gaudet Luce golf course in Droitwich following the success of their monthly ladies’ golf networking events.

Various local business teams entered and the winners were from Arkade Property and Biddle & Webb, made up of James Clapham, Jeremy Thornton, Dave Biddle and Toby Porter.

The total of £2,000 raised from ticket sales and a raffle during the event in late September will be donated to St Richard’s Hospice in Worcester.

Nick O’Hara, Managing Director of Thursfields, said: “This was a fantastic event, with dozens of local business people taking part on what was an extremely warm day in late September.

Hannah and Laura have made a big success of their golf networking events, so a big thank you to them, to everyone who donated raffle prizes and to all the teams that entered.

Not only did everyone have fun, but they also enjoyed useful networking and raised money for a great cause at the same time.”

The money raised will go towards the hospice’s Build 2020 appeal for the final £1.4m needed to build a bigger hospice, enabling more patients and families to be cared for. The total cost for redeveloping the existing building in Wildwood Drive, Worcester, is £5.3m.

Tricia Cavell, Fundraising Director at St Richard’s Hospice, said: “We truly appreciate the money raised at this event by Thursfields and everyone who attended. Every penny raised is going directly towards the appeal, helping us build a bigger hospice to care for more patients and loved ones.”

Raffle prizes were donated by hat and fascinator maker Gillys, Severn Valley Railway, West Midlands Safari Park, Worcester Warriors, Gaudet Luce Golf Club, Churchfields Maize Maze, Sanders Fitness, Arbonne and Stripes of Worcester.
