Ten budding lawyers to be offered week’s work experience

Thursfields Solicitors is offering a week-long undergraduate work placement programme for ten budding lawyers at its Solihull office this summer.
The programme’s content, new for 2019, was developed by the firm’s Junior Lawyer’s Committee and aims to provide useful insight into a career as a lawyer.
The programme offers mock trials, marketing activities and the chance to run your own law firm for a day. Thursfield’s current trainees will provide mentoring throughout the programme and will share their own experiences of qualifying as a lawyer.
Applications are invited from Friday 1 February to Friday 15 February 2019.
Thursfields is a recognised and growing legal practice and won the ‘Family Law Firm of the Year’ award for the Midlands at the Family Law Awards in 2018.
Thursfields also won the Outstanding Team category in the Solihull BID Excellence Awards 2018 and was winner of Excellence in Professional Services at the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber Awards 2017.
Michelle O’Hara, HR Director said: “Most of us remember work experience as a student and sometimes it was not always the most rewarding experience.
Our junior lawyers wanted to offer something unique and useful. They have devised a programme which is both enjoyable and enables students to decide if a career in law is really for them.
There’s so much more to law than just learning a legal discipline, as being a good communicator and understanding marketing and finance is just as much a part of the job.
We are delighted to offer this unique opportunity for ten undergraduates to experience the reality of a career in law.”
Michelle added: “Choosing the right career is an important decision and so we also provide access to lawyers, who can share their own experiences of starting a legal career to help students make an informed decision.”
