Thursfields’ Agricultural Team successfully concludes another farm sale

Thursfields has recently acted on the sale of a large, tenanted farm and completed the sale having overcome various challenges.

The sale involved: ensuring vacant possession of two farm cottages was obtained, both with residential tenancies; resolving a neighbour’s claim over a part of the farmland that arose after the sale had commenced; and collating evidence to disprove a claim relating to an adopted highway adjacent to the farm, so as to ensure the buyer’s plans for the farm would not face immediate planning obstacles.

The transaction was managed by the firm’s Agricultural and Rural Affairs Team. Commercial Real Estate Director, Tony Gibb, was supported by Emma Hughes an Associate Director in Thursfields Real Estate Team, and assisted by Property Litigation Director, Jon Clifford, who dealt with the residential tenancies.

We were able to exchange contracts conditionally upon supplying vacant possession, negotiate a deal with the neighbour to reach an amicable conclusion, and draft a statement regarding the driveway thereby securing completion within the timeframe required for both our clients and the purchasers.”
