Thursfields shares story of talent success | Employment Law

Thursfields Solicitors’ commercial and HR director Michelle O’Hara is to speak at a legal industry conference focused on people strategies and will share her firm’s success in attracting and developing talent.

The Legal Practice Management National Conference (LPM) is for practice management leaders in law firms. This year’s conference is all about people and will explore how technology, leadership approach and different operational models can support an effective people strategy in a law firm.

Michelle will address delegates at LPM South 2020 in London on Monday 10 February and at LPM North in Manchester on Tuesday 24 March.

A shareholder and executive director on the board of Thursfields Legal Ltd, Michelle is responsible for the firm’s people strategy and recruitment, and other commercial aspects of running a growing and thriving law firm.

A dual-qualified lawyer and HR professional, Michelle has a passion for developing people.  Her bespoke “Learning Agility” programme led to Thursfields’ shortlisting for a national learning and development award in the 2018 Law Society of England & Wales’ Excellence Awards.

In 2018, Legal 500 recommended her as an “excellent communicator” who provides “clear and concise advice”.

Michelle chairs Thursfields’ Equality & Diversity Group, which has an active commitment to diversity and inclusion strategies to make Thursfields a great place for everyone to work.

Michelle said: “It is a privilege to be invited to chair discussions around attracting and developing talent in the legal profession.  Many talented people are often overlooked in traditional law firm recruitment and this provides great opportunity for challenger brand firms like Thursfields.”

“Thursfields is a growing regional law firm, having achieved 20% income growth for each of the last six years.  We punch well above our weight in terms of attracting talented lawyers and the key to our success in this is offering a genuine culture of autonomy with accountability.”
