Thursfields targets MIPIM as real estate team continues to grow

Heavyweight regional law firm Thursfields Solicitors is sending a delegation of three senior lawyers to MIPIM, the world’s leading real estate conference which runs in Cannes, France, from 14-17 March.

Thursfields’ chairman Nick O’Hara will be joined by Tony Gibb, head of the firm’s Commercial Real Estate team, and fellow director Rob Pettigrew.

They will attend the event alongside a major delegation from the West Midlands Combined Authority, led by elected Mayor Andy Street, representing 17 local councils and three local enterprise partnerships, including the cities of Birmingham, Coventry and Wolverhampton.

Tony Gibb said: “MIPIM attracts more than 20,000 delegates from over 80 countries, and this provides Thursfields with a platform to demonstrate our expertise not only to our UK audience but also to global investors who are targeting the Midlands.

“Over the past five years, our commercial real estate offering has grown significantly which reflects the calibre and expertise of the team.”

In the past 12 months, Thursfields has acted on a number of major real estate deals across the region.

These include facilitating the move of RCS Manufacturing from Birmingham to 18-19 Park Farm Industrial Estate, Crossgate Road, Redditch, where RCS paid £2,862,500 for the freehold of the 54,496 sq ft unit.

Advised by Thursfields, HBI Investment Ltd, based in Halesowen, bought a 50,000 sq ft property on the Gatherley Road Industrial Estate in Brompton on Swale, near Richmond, for £2.6 million.

Mr Gibb added: “MIPIM is the ideal stage on which to present our credentials and make our case to global investors, developers and financiers who are seeking to grow in the wider Midlands region.

“We also see our presence there as a recruitment tool for ambitious real estate lawyers looking to undertake quality work in a firm that has its people front and centre in its growth plans.”
